Carling Berkhout performs in folk duo Carling & Will, folk trio Surplus Daughters, and indie rock band Foster Powell.
Carling & Will’s most recent album Soon Comes Night expands beyond the confines of old-time, with a modern sound deeply rooted in the style and history of traditional music. These new songs feel timeless, built on the rich drone of an electric guitar and the warm and lyrical open-back banjo. It’s available on all platforms.
Surplus Daughters released their debut self-titled album in 2019, featuring traditional songs and cover songs. Their single, “Love Song,” was released 7/17/20.
Carling’s solo work ranges from singer-songwriter bedroom recordings to traditional banjo field recordings.
